New collaboration with Profs. Carla M. D'Antonio, Max Moritz and Aaron Ramirez
We are excited to officially start, but informally continue, a collaboration with Profs. D'Antonio (ES & EEMB), Moritz (Bren & ERI), and Ramirez (Reed College) that explores restoration and resilience of Pseudotsuga macrocarpa, also known as Big Cone Douglas Fir (BCDF), in the Zaca Fire range of Los Padres National Forest.
We will be outplanting seedlings with and without endophytes and ectomycorrhizae in the field under various environmental conditions to understand how to successfully restore BCDF after intense wildfires in today's climate. We will also be partnering with Dr. Nicole Molinari at U.S. Forest Service and Prof. Holly Moeller (EEMB) moving forward. This project will be made possible from funding by the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation.
