Congratulations Yesenia for receiving the Edison McNair Research Fellowship!

The Edison Scholars Program, which is funded by Edison International, is a special program run under the auspices of the UCSB McNair Scholars Program. This program is designed to help a wide range of students among which are women, low-income, first-generation, veterans, and those historically underrepresented in science and math. Yesenia will participate in research under the direction of Austen and myself, meet weekly in a seminar with a STEM graduate student mentor for professional development activities, and offer a poster at the UCSB campus-wide graduate and undergraduate colloquium series. She will be working on degradation of leaf litter by endophytes. Yesenia will also be an NSF REU fellow in the fall to continue her work. Congratulations!
